New For 2008
It is with mixed emotions we share information about what is new for the 2008 season. Sadly we had to say goodbye to our dear friend and best neighbor ever, Martha Taylor, who passed away in 2007. Many of our garden customers will remember Mrs. Taylor who enjoyed the daylilies and loved to visit across the fence. She would often times give a tour to her visitors and point out her many favorite blooms. Each spring she expressed how she looked forward to seeing the garden come alive with color once again “for us all to enjoy”. She will be deeply missed.
In keeping with her and the family's wishes the Taylor property is being considered for purchased by Good Daylilies for expansion, parking, and some other exciting changes that will be taking place in the coming years.
Those who have visited the garden know what a challenge parking has been at Good Daylilies. With the purchase of this new property finding a place to park will be easier and will give better access to the sale beds. Also, we have had numerous requests to hold special events in the garden but parking has limited the plans; with the addition of a new larger parking area we are excited about the possibilities the future holds. If you are interested in booking a special event; please give us a call for more details.
Beginning in 2008 we will be accepting credit card payments through PayPal for online orders only. Please email for details on how to complete your order using a credit card.
Some new additions to the garden for 2008; a picnic area was built in the west end of the garden. Four picnic tables were setup along the hillside and under three very old Oak trees. This area will seat approximately 32 and will be equipped with grills for cooking and a place for a small bonfire/hot dog roast. Other changes to the garden include the addition of several new specimen trees, more concreted walkways, completion of the north side of the garden and of course the addition of many new daylilies.
During the 2007 season many garden customers left with more than daylilies due to the successful addition of a Koi pond in 2006. Our Koi spawned 5 times in the spring and we were delighted to share the thousands of babies that survived. If/when the Koi spawn this spring we will be offering the eggs/fry, while they last, to anyone who places a daylily order. We will not be able to ship the eggs/fry and you must come to the garden to pick them up. Check the website for more information about the availability of free Koi eggs/fry.
As always we are most grateful you have chosen Good Daylilies and we truly appreciate your business.
